Micronesia (Fed. States of)
A scattered archipelago of over 600 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, the Federated States of Micronesia spans nearly 2,700 km of ocean but has a tiny total land area. The capital Palikir is on the island of Pohnpei, which also hosts the mysterious ancient stone city of Nan Madol. The FSM is a freely associated state of the United States with a predominantly subsistence economy.
