Algeria
The largest country in Africa by land area, Algeria stretches from the Mediterranean coast southward deep into the Sahara Desert, which covers more than 80% of its territory. The capital Algiers, known as 'the White City,' cascades down hills overlooking a sweeping bay. Algeria's economy is heavily dependent on oil and natural gas exports.
