Burundi
One of the world's smallest and poorest countries, Burundi is a densely populated, landlocked nation in the African Great Lakes region. The political capital Gitega replaced Bujumbura, which remains the economic center on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Despite its challenges, Burundi has a rich drumming tradition — the Royal Drummers of Burundi are a UNESCO cultural treasure.
