Djibouti
A small, arid nation at the southern entrance to the Red Sea in the Horn of Africa, Djibouti occupies one of the world's most strategically important locations for global shipping. The capital Djibouti city hosts military bases for the US, France, China, Japan, and Italy. Lake Assal, at 155 meters below sea level, is the lowest point in Africa and the third-lowest on Earth.
