The smallest and most densely populated country in Central America, El Salvador is the only nation in the region without a Caribbean coastline. The capital San Salvador sits in a valley surrounded by volcanoes. Known as the 'Land of Volcanoes,' El Salvador made global headlines in 2021 as the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender.
