A small but influential nation on the eastern Mediterranean, Israel was established in 1948 as a homeland for the Jewish people and has developed into a major technology and innovation hub often called the 'Startup Nation.' Jerusalem is one of the world's oldest and most contested cities, sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Tel Aviv is the economic and cultural center.
