Libya
A vast North African country on the Mediterranean coast, Libya is over 90% desert and holds Africa's largest proven oil reserves. The capital Tripoli dates back to the 7th century BC as a Phoenician trading post. Since the 2011 overthrow of longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been engulfed in political fragmentation and civil conflict between rival governments.
