Namibia
A sparsely populated southern African nation along the Atlantic coast, Namibia features some of the world's most dramatic desert landscapes, including the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei and the Skeleton Coast. The capital Windhoek sits on the central plateau. Namibia was the last African country to gain independence (from South Africa in 1990) and has one of the continent's most progressive conservation programs.
