Nepal
Home to eight of the world's ten highest peaks, including Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), Nepal is a landlocked Himalayan nation wedged between China and India. The capital Kathmandu Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with ancient temples and stupas. Nepal transitioned from a Hindu monarchy to a federal republic in 2008 and is sacred to both Hinduism and Buddhism.
