Africa's most populous nation and largest economy, Nigeria is a federal republic of 36 states with over 250 ethnic groups and 500 languages. The capital Abuja was purpose-built in the 1990s, while Lagos is a megacity of over 20 million and West Africa's economic engine. Nigeria is Africa's top oil producer and has a thriving entertainment industry — Nollywood produces more films annually than Hollywood.
