A landlocked Central European nation in the heart of the continent, Slovakia separated peacefully from Czechia in the 1993 'Velvet Divorce.' The capital Bratislava sits on the Danube River, uniquely close to the Austrian and Hungarian borders. Slovakia is one of the world's largest per capita car producers and boasts the highest concentration of castles per capita in the world.
